Never had a bad meal here! Most of the servers are very good as well. Occasionally we'll get a "newer" server who doesn't do as well but we make due. I like how the manager comes around to make sure your meal is perfect. Very good craft beer selection too. This is definitely one of our go-to places in the area.

One of the questions that I like to answer for other Yelpers is, "Why would I come here?" I can think of a couple of possibilities for this one. 1. Work dinner. Relative seclusion and quiet enough to socialize over drinks and still get some business in after work hours if you are located nearby and don't want to travel all the way downtown for an upscale atmosphere. 2. Date night. This would be a good place to bring a date that shows you can afford to feed her in style, if that is the impression you are trying to create. It's not suuuper romantic (no dim lighting, no fireplace), so I wouldn't go for an anniversary or anything like that, but maybe a first date that you're trying to keep casual but still impress if that makes any sense. In either circumstance, arrive early because parking here is a giant cluster. I was never sure where I was supposed to leave my car as the restaurant is inside the Wyndham hotel, so I parked in the plaza next door at Trattoria (shhhhhh!). Probably not a good choice for dinner with the kids, or relaxed family gatherings. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the drinks, which was a plus. I had the blackberry margarita ($8) and my buddy had some wine, which the waiter was all too pleased to answer questions about. Apparently, Brioso is affiliated with Butterwood Bakery, so the bread basket had blueberry muffins as well as the bread (but was served with a chipotle butter which doesn't scream blueberry...). We also had the guacamole and chips, which came out quickly and was nicely blended without being too mushy. They left the rind buried in the bowl, underneath the guacamole which seemed odd. Not sure if that was a failed attempt at fancy, or accidental? Guacamole was still a win as it was fresh and had a good flavor. I had the Vegetarian Stuffed Poblano pepper ($18) which came with a small clover salad and a chipotle dressing beneath it. I appreciated the warning that it was spicy, because although I like spicy, I'm sure others would want to know that. The stuffing of the pepper was a cheesy risotto which worked well with the spice of the sauce. It was large enough to share with two large poblanos on the plate. Dinner was about $80/2 including drinks, which isn't too bad. I'd go back, but I think the pepper was the only veggie option, so maybe just for drinks/appetizers. Bon appétit!

We originally went here for the cupcake but ended up staying for some food. It took them about 10 minutes for anyone to notice us waiting at the front door but once we sat down the service was quick.I ordered the Smoked Cheddar Burger along with Fried Green Tomatoes. The cheddar burger would have been perfect if they didn't burn it. I asked for it medium well and it seams like they cooked it way too fast. I never had fried tomatoes and not sure if I would order it again.

I've consistently found the food here to be really delicious and I think consistency in a restaurant is crucial. Having only sat at the bar, I didn't pay much attention to what was happening at tables behind me but at the bar, there were many regulars, it seemed like there was Brioso club, people who live in the hotel perhaps and those who just really enjoy dining here and come by often. People knew each other, is what I'm trying to say. The bar has bright lights on the bottom which is a little bit awkward because there is a bright light shining at your legs and feet and so you feel like you really need to cross your legs properly and shine your shoes before coming here because there is no hiding anything with those lights. Now onto the food, their menu isn't set up the most efficient way in my opinion. The first page of the menu lists salads, then burgers and THEN appetizers. I think the appetizers should be visualized by the guest before they get to the burgers and sandwiches. Anyways, the butternut squash soup is creamy and amazing. The caesar salad is presented beautifully with grilled romaine and is so tasty. I don't ever order a caesar salad unless I think it's going to be really good and let me say, it was. The Sedona chopped salad is BIG. Really big, enough for two people to share. The flavor was great and it was loaded with corn, tomatoes, avocado, and crispy onions in a pepper dressing. Their guacamole is great, served in the outside of the avocado, which is clever and cute but there just isn't enough of it in an order in my opinion. The guacamole can be found under the section of their menu labeled, "Southwestern Favorites." They had a Mexican flare which was different, but I loved it because I just love Mexican food. Their stuffed vegetarian poblano pepper is a great dish. Big portion, lots of flavor with mushrooms, quinoa, spinach and garlic, basically a vegetarians dream. Their salmon is to die for. It's seafood crusted if you so choose to order it that way, and comes with a couscous salad with asparagus. The sauce is a saffron cream and while I am not a big fan of creamy sauces, this one worked really well with the dish and wasn't overpowering at all. Now, you're dining in a hotel, so expect to pay a little bit more than you are going to be paying at any other restaurant. What's important however, is that the food is awesome, the bar service is fantastic and they have AMAZING desserts. The red velvet cupcake.....enough said.

Had a Groupon or Living Social deal (can't remember which!) for Brioso by Butterwood so the husband and I decided to have a date night during the week after work. Brioso is located within the Wyndham Garden Hotel on Main Street in Williamsville. There is ample parking at the hotel, both in a lot in the back and also in a parking garage attached to the building... although I parked there, I'm not sure I was allowed to, but my car was there with no ticket when I left so I consider that a good parking spot. Walk through the lobby and off to the side is the entrance to Brioso. When I entered, there was no one at the host station and I saw several employees before someone alerted the hostess that I was waiting. The restaurant was not busy at all on a Wednesday night at 6:30pm. The restaurant is very swanky looking inside, with rich looking tables, lighting, and décor. They also have a nice large bar. We sat at a table for 2 next to a window overlooking Main Street. I believe our server was named Joe. We started by ordering a glass of wine (me) and a Pepsi (husband). Unfortunately for the husband, his Pepsi tasted off (think flat/slightly diet taste) so he requested a Sierra Mist instead. That arrived at the table and tasted like tonic water. Joe came back to the table and my husband mentioned that there must be something wrong with the pop machine and maybe he could try a ginger ale instead? Well, there definitely was something wrong with the pop machine because it took quite a while to get that ginger ale but the waiter came back and sort of apologized for all the yucky pop. Third time was a charm. Some complimentary chips and salsa arrived at our table, which were salty and warm, and the salsa was a little on the mild side but still tasty. For appetizers, we decided to split a soup and salad. I had the Brioso Romaine salad which was basically a Mexican twist on a Caesar salad. The dressing had a nice horseradish and avocado kick to it, although I felt the greens were slightly overdressed. The charred corn and cotija cheese were delicious toppings though. I enjoyed it but my husband did not like the play on his beloved Caesar salad. He had a bowl of the Minguichi soup... think tortilla soup but more of a broth base as opposed to cream. It had a little bit of spice but could have used more in my opinion. In fact, maybe some hot sauce at the table would have livened everything up! For entrees, we both went with one of the specials. My husband ordered the chicken lasagna and I had the rib eye tostado. My steak was well seasoned and perfectly medium rare, set atop an arugula and tomato salad with fried potatoes, on a crispy tortilla shell, with chimichurri and roasted pepper sauces. It was simply delicious. I really enjoyed my dinner. My husband, on the other hand, was disappointed in his because it wasn't really what he was expecting. When you think "lasagna" you think of a nice neat little stack of layered meat and cheese goodness. What arrived was a big messy bowl of mushy stuff covered in a creamy sauce. The flavors were pretty good but the presentation left a lot to be desired. We were too full to partake in any of the Butterwood desserts, but they do have a lovely case full of them when you walk in for planning purposes. Looking back on it, we should have taken a few home. All in all, I enjoyed my meal at Brioso, but the husband did not, so it will be relegated to my "girlfriends drinks and light meal" list. It was pretty pricey though, so I'll probably stick to lunch or the bar menu next time.

Hubby bought a Groupon or something of the sort to use here for lunch. We stopped here on a Saturday for a lunch before we went shopping. It was dead empty.....the staff was bored and sitting at the bar chatting. We were seated right away and served waters. We each had a beer and enjoyed the "homemade" chips (maybe not... hard to tell) and salsa. I ordered the Brioso burrito and it was very good - a little greasy from the meat but had a lot of veggies. Hubby had a hamburger that was a small heart-attack on a plate. Burger, Bacon, onion rings, chips... however, man food heaven. I agree with others - signage is bad and the door to get in is almost impossible to find. Note - go into the hotel and then turn left ...

Pros: Amazing margaritas Great service - our waiter Jeffrey was awesome Food is delicious and fresh! Cons: Not very busy, maybe this is a pro for some? I am not sure if it's just because Brioso is new or because we went for dinner on a Tuesday night, but there were only a few other people in there. Regardless, I think Brioso is going to become big once the word gets out. Everything was very classy. Their cocktail list looked really good, but I went safe with the house margarita. It was served craft cocktail style with 1 giant ice cube in the middle and tasted delicious - tequila, triple sec, lime - not a ton of sugary fillers like other places. We ordered chips with salsa and guacamole and they were so good we barely had room for our main meal. I ordered the gauchos carne burger and it was the best. I ordered it medium well and it was cooked perfectly without being tough or dried out. There was also some type of cilantro pesto on it which I think was what made the flavor pop. It was served with an egg on it which I honestly don't think it really needed but I guess that's authentic. My date ordered the taco trio and he liked it but it was pretty basic, although they did serve a tasty hot sauce with it. Overall I would definitely recommend checking Brioso out for a margarita happy hour!

Great place, unlike any in buffalo. Had the surf and turf tacos they were fantastic and the bartender was very helpful in making the manhattan just the way I like it . Looks like it will be a fun place for happy hour.

This place could be so good, so I can understand the better reviews, unfortunately my experience was mediocre at best. Parking was a little confusing. There were signs directing us to the garage, but there were numbers on the spaces, making us think we were parking in someone's space, but we did anyway with no problems. We were promptly seated at 6:15 on a Saturday night, which was surprising. There were only a few table occupied, and a few people at the bar. They served us warm chips and salsa that was very good and we opted out of having appetizers. After waiting about 40 minutes for our meals they seemed overly dry. I have a feeling they were sitting under heat lamps for quite some time. My boyfriends meal of Mahi Mahi was good. The salsa (chutney?) that came with it was delicious. I felt that the fish itself was a little dry. My meal of the tortilla crusted chicken could have been so delicious except for the fact of the chicken being so dry (under heat lamps too long?) The potatoes, veggies and reduction sauce were all sooo good. For desert we ordered a chipolte chocolate cake that the waiter recommended (which was the only connection we had with him the whole night, he seemed distant and uninterested in his job up til this time) We ordered it to go, and I enjoyed it the next day. It is probably the best chocolate cake I have ever had, the only flaw is that I was expecting a more heated flavor due to the chipolte. One last thing. I ordered 2 glasses of wine and think I was over charged, but didn't want to make a scene and check back at the wine menu over a couple dollar difference.

Had the nachos with some "crab" and other stuff I can't remember on it. It was really gross, and looked like something from TGIF. Wife had some kind of salad that was 99% mixed lettuce. Overall, the food was disappointing.
(2)Jacqueline C.
Delicious drink menu. Great service. Chicken was good but so so compared to the black beans - yum! Great place if you like meat but bad choice for vegetarians! All in all fun atmosphere and can't beat the drinks and desserts!

I was very hesitant on dining here, but I was pleasantly surprised. I met a friend here on Wednesday evening around 6:30. We decided to sit at the bar to eat, the restaurant itself was not busy at all. I ordered a dirty martini and wanted blue cheese stuffed olives which they did not have, but Bill the bartender stuffed some just for me! He was great the whole time we were there, giving us good suggestions on what to order. We started with the Caulifrito, which was deep fried (but not battered) cauliflower and topped with this sweet and spicy sauce and nuts. It was delicious! I could eat that all day long. My friend had the crusted Salmon with grilled asparagus and I had the seafood stew which had shrimp, salmon and scallops with couscous. Both where amazing. I feel the prices are a little high. For dessert we split the salted Carmel torte on Bills suggestion and that too was fantastic. I think I would go back to sit at the bar for drinks and apps, but for dinner, probably not unless someone really wanted to go.

Our friends and I stopped by here for breakfast since we were staying at the Wydham. The venue itself isn't anything special. Just a very standard bar/restaurant housed inside of a hotel. The breakfast options were decent but on the pricier side as expected with anything affiliated with a hotel. They had omelettes, standard breakfast (egg, toast and sausage), pancakes and breakfast burritos. I ended up ordering the burrito with steak which was pretty decent. The only drawback was that the tortilla was a little soggy due to the juices from the meat. One thing this place can definitely improve on though is service. We were a party of 8 and without a ton of other folks in the restaurant. It took forever for our food to come out. Due to the high prices and level of service, I'd recommend going to the crepe place down the street or Dunkin Donuts.

I was debating between trying this place and 800 Maple for my birthday dinner. Brioso won because I saw on their online menu that they had a.) guacamole and b.) Chateau Ste. Michelle's Eroica riesling. Obviously you can see from my 5 stars that I was a big fan of my dinner here. It killed me not to try the butternut squash soup on the menu but I love love LOVE guacamole. We started with the "loaded" guacamole and I'll tell you what it's loaded with: awesome. It's lots of fresh avocado, corn, tomatoes, and spices. They don't give you a super lot of it, I think if I get it again I'd tell my husband to get his own. They brought us chips with salsa with this too. I see in other people's reviews mention of a bread basket. We did not get any bread basket, which did make me sad because I am a carbaholic. Perhaps they replaced the bread basket with the chips and salsa? They also offer a guacamole with lobster in it for $2 more. I like lobster, but I like my guacamole more traditional. We got a bottle of the aforementioned Chateau Ste Michelle's Eroica. It is just delicious and the perfect summer wine. They charge $40 a bottle for that which is a pretty standard restaurant price for that (in liquor stores it's $20-25 a bottle). I love my WA state rieslings so if I see a restaurant offer one, I'm probably going to get it. The waiter told me he is "allergic" to wine, which is the saddest thing I've ever heard in my life. The horror of a life without wine! I had the filet and let me tell you, for $32 this was the best damn filet. It came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I ordered medium and I always get nervous when I do that, because sometimes when you order it medium it comes out too well done. The chef did medium on the side of caution and it was more like medium rare and that was perfect! I like when chefs do it that way. If you overcook a steak it's ruined... if you undercook it and the person doesn't like that they can always toss it back on for 1-2 minutes. So, I was very happy the chef did it like that, it was a medium with a red center and I liked that a lot. The steak sauce on it is tasty. My husband is a burger man, he had a cheeseburger and loved it. The fries are SO GOOD. I think next time I come I'd get the filet again but ask for those fries instead of the mashed potatoes (which were fine but dry). We parked on the ramp behind the hotel this restaurant is in. The entrance is INSIDE of the hotel. The service here was decent, the waiter was present but not intrusive. We had the Snicker's pie for dessert, didn't really like it. It's too dark chocolate-y. I hear "snickers" I think milk chocolate. This was pretty bitter. Oh, one more thing: you probably do NOT need reservations. I made them but hilariously were were the only people here on Friday at 5pm.
(5)Sarah G.
Probably the worst meal I've had for what you are paying for. Service was terrible and waitress took a half hour just to bring water and there were only 3 people in the whole restaurant. Told them I was allergic to something in the snapper entree so instead of making it without it, I paid $30,for an overcooked piece of snapper. I can not see this place lasting long in Williamsville. Updating this to add that getting harassed for my terrible experience by obvious employees makes this place even more crappy than it was before. Please keep sending me rude messages, your restaurant still sucks. Sucks to suck
(1)Jimmie S.
I ordered the short rib very tender piece of meat sadly the potatoes that went with the ensemble didn't fit in They tasted frozen That turned me off somewhat Complexity of sauces nothing outstanding More like a mishmash of ingredients thrown on a plate It would of been a better experience had they simplified this dish Stronger flavors to accompany this dish South Americans pride themselves with strong tastes like chimchirri sauce accompany beef Herbal vinegary sauce to accompany such a rich cut of beef The appetizers were good did love their roasted cauliflower drizzled with a very outstanding maple finish The guacamole was a nice touch no skimping on avacado Atmosphere super nice Think this experience could of been outstanding if they adhered to a balanced dish. Too many sauces none stood out Sadly

I went with a girlfriend and we had an overall good experience. Our waitress was attentive, but we were left to wait at times like when dinner was cleared and we wanted dessert. My friend ordered the Vegetarian meal, but it was so spicy she had to send it back. They were very understanding and replaced the meal without question. I had the chicken with mashed potatoes which was good, but I would have enjoyed it a lot more if the chicken was a split breast. There just wasn't a lot of meat for the price. All in all we had a good time, but I don't think we would go back.
(3)Melanie S.
Food adequate, our server was excellent, bartender too busy to make a margarita. Won't go back for a 3rd try.
(3)amy m.
We were highly disappointed with our experience tonight. I've never had such slow service at a restaurant. It took the waitress 20 minutes to come take our order after we had our drinks. The restaurant was not full but the waitress seemed to be completely overwhelmed by the few tables she had. The food was not very good. Below average. Nothing seemed to be seasoned with any salt and everything tasted very bland. After a subpar experience at the butterwoods restaurant downtown, we were not that surprised but disappointed just the same. We will definitely not be back.

Here's another Restaurant Week review for you.... Pros: - Atmosphere - Big wine list - Salmon and steak entrées - Dessert Cons: - Dirty floor - Poor signage around outside of property - Horseradish Caesar dressing (wtf?!) Very cozy and contemporary adult place to eat...definitely not a place for children. We had reservations at a normal dinner time and were seated immediately. The waitress said that the place would be filling up rather soon. Overall, the table service was very good. Course 1 was salsa and chips. I loved the fresh, minced salsa. The chips were questionable.....well-salted but a little soft. We had the calamari and chopped Caesar for appetizers. My calamari was lightly fried and clean. I just wish they drizzled more sauce over it. My girlfriend got the chopped Caesar.....which had Buttermilk-Horseradish dressing. I'm going to be completely honest when I say that the horseradish dressing almost entirely ruined my dinner. You know a great chef from a c**ky one when he dares to use horseradish as an ingredient on what should be a simple Caesar salad. In Buffalo, you either like horseradish or you don't....You either put it on your beef on weck or you don't. There's no in-between. Listen, Brioso.......it's OK to make your meals fancy and South-American-ish....but stick to the basics on some things. If you want to have Caesar salad on your menu, then please prepare it with the normal ingredients. I'm just so f**king frustrated over this horseradish thing and I have no idea why.... Anyways, my salmon dish with seafood crusting was great. My girlfriend's steak was slightly overcooked but well-seasoned and the (small) helping of potatoes it came with were glorious. Fantastic Butterwood dessert as always. The plain whipped cream tasted like it came out of the can. I hope that wasn't the case for the raspberry whipped cream on my cheesecake. Btw, I just looked at their breakfast menu online. Who would pay $16 for a breakfast burrito?
(4)Pamela C.
Amazing food...The seafood stew was incredible! Great service as well! Made my business trip so enjoyable
(5)Laura D.
Delicious. I had the salmon tacos and my husband had the salmon dinner. Loved my taco's. We had the calamari appetizer which was done more like a salad. It was great. For dessert we had an outstanding praline tart. (Not sure if that is what it was called but it was a round tart with chocolate on top. Worth every calorie!)
(4)Bethany M.
We stopped in for some celebratory drinks and an impromptu gluten free dessert - and I was very pleased with the selection of both! The prices were typical of a Butterwood place and the interior was cool and collected. The only service we experienced was from the bartender, so I don't have much to comment on there. We enjoyed our evening though, and will definitely return. The quality of the place at first glance made me more comfortable with the idea of sending guests to stay in the hotel, as well.
(4)Diana M.
We just had hot chocolate and dessert so that is all I can speak to. But I did ask to see the menu. BRING YOUR WALLET AND TWO CREDIT CARDS- yikes this is a expensive place. Drinks with alcohol were $14.00!!! It was a nice looking place but nothing so extraordinary. Waiter was upbeat!
(4)Tracey S.
The service and food were extraordinary at Brioso. I am visually impaired. Though there is no braille or large print menu my waiter, Jeffery, was very happy to discuss all the options for my lunch. The shaved prime rib take on "beef on Weck" was exceptional along with the house salad of very fresh, flavorful veggies with a delightful honey chipotle dressing. I wish I had taken a pic of how the salad was beautifully arranged. It was too delicious to wait for pics. Because I am staying in the Wyndham hotel, which is attached to the restarant, I have eaten several meals here and have really enjoyed the service and dishes. From breakfast to happy hour and dinner, it really is top notch. I would also highly recommend the rack of lamb for dinner. Compliments to the chef and staff on helping to make my first visit to Buffalo very enjoyable!
(5)Julia G.
Came here with a Living Social voucher. Made a reservation for 6pm- didn't need it because the place was empty. The service was not the best. Had to ask for lemon for my water twice. Server was not rude or anything, but made a big deal about me ordering a vegetarian quasadilla off the lunch menu and asking for chips to not be cooked in oil that also is used for meat/fish. (I had called in advance to make sure it would be okay prior to making reservations.) Otherwise the food was good and the dessert delicious. The interior is very nice but there was no music playing and it did not feel cozy at all. Also, not many vegetarian options on dinner menu. Overall, I am not impressed. It was okay with the voucher but I would not pay full price for the experience again.
(3)Mark M.
Highly recommended. Dinner last week was awesome, very unique menu that you don't find in Buffalo. The server was extremely attentive and made some great recommendations. The ambiance is warm and inviting which you won't typically find in hotel restaurants. Definitely will be back and if you haven't tried it, I strongly recommend you do...

Went for Restaurant Week Spring 2014. Chosen because of close proximity to work, interesting food selection on RW menu, and amount of food for $20.14! Ordered a glass of white Moscato at the bar - delicious. It had better be for $7 a glass (that, btw, is the least expensive glass of wine.) Fun place, but it does get crowded & loud so probably not good for an intimate date. Worked great for our party of 8 though! 1st course: chips & salsa 2nd course: Choice of 1: Coliflor Frito Fried Cauliflower, Pistachios & Honey Chipotle Glaze Calamari Arugula, tomatoes, cilantro, chili dressed Chopped Ceasar Chopped romain, roasted corn salsa, horseradish ranch dressed 3rd course: Choice of 1: Chicken Brioso Chorizo and Cornbread stuffed with Pablano crème Chimmichurri Herbed NY Strip Chargrilled 8oz with house steak sauce Seafood Crusted Salmon Herbed Risotto, saffron Crème The chips were nice & warm; we had to ask for more salsa. A lovely surprise was when the bartender sent over margarita shooters to our table - YUM! It didn't appear that that happened at other tables, so maybe they found us all really attractive, lol. Our server was attentive & accurate. I had the cauliflower. It was unique, but I got more of a balsamic flavor than honey chipotle. Also, the portion was small. Portions in general seemed inconsistent that evening - people with the same meal had various-size portions, esp. the appies. Anyway, I tried a friend's calamari & preferred that - the fried rings were served over a bed of arugula with some nice cherry tomatoes. Did not try the salad, but the 2 people who ordered it loved it. I almost never order chicken (boring, I make it at home a lot, etc.) But I am not a fan of salmon unless it's smoked, or raw in sushi. And the steak did not sound exciting. The description of the chicken sounded intriguing enough to try it so that was my choice. Mistake! First of all, for chicken being the cheapest option, it was tiny. TEENY tiny, Like, it may have actually been the wing of a Cornish game hen - seriously. Friend's chicken was similar. The flavor was bland & my potatoes were not very warm. Booooo! :( Disappointment. Friend's steak was nicely flavored & cooked to her preference. Salmon meals were HUGE. Absolutely enormous. I tried it & it was tasty, but I don't think I could handle that much salmon. If I was able to have a do-over, I would have ordered the steak. Dessert was chef's choice - molten chocolate lava cake. It was fine, but a little gummy/dry without the lava part. All in all, a really fun RW night out. But I won't go back & pay full price for the mediocre food. And if I'm comparing Butterwoods, I much prefer Sweet & Savory.

We went out for restaurant week. WHAT a great deal. We started with a "sample" of their house margarita. Actually, its a shoot. Then our server who was soo pleasant, was able to explain all the dishes in detail, and she was new to the restaurant. Food did come out slow, but by 7pm, they had a full restaurant. She did offer a round of drinks, weren't going to say no. All in all, Cauliflower, chicken and salmon were done perfectly. The service was attentive to the fact that things were slow, and that really made it ok.

My date and I started our night at Brioso at five o clock. We had trouble finding the entrance and learned quickly that it was actually through the hotel lobby instead of the front door overlooking the sidewalk and street. Rookie mistake. Being that it was 5:00, we got there just before the dinner crowd started to trickle in. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly server and bartender. After being seated our server took our drink order and made some suggestions off the menu. I absolutely loved that when asked about the "scallop shooters" he gave us his unbiased opinion-pointing us in the direction of what he thought to be better options. (Servers, take notes!) At first glance, the menu can be quite intimidating. (I have to admit my google translator came in handy a couple different times). My date and I decided on the "spirited salad" and "empanada de verde" to start. The salad and empanada were absolutely delicious. The empanada boasts goat cheese and tomatillos in a Phillo-dough-like crust with both a spicy "rojo chili purée" that reminded me a lot of sriracha and a pesto sauce. Each sauce added a welcomed flavor addition to the already-scrumptious pie. The salad was fresh and I loved the mango and papaya as accompaniments. I especially liked the diverse flavor-bursts of the honey-Dijon and vinaigrette, both adding it's own unique zest. My main course was a seared ahi tuna. It came with a "sour orange mojo" that added the perfect amount of spiciness and a very cool swap-out for the usual wasabi. The jicama and the bean succotash were fresh, light, and flavorful. I love when a restaurant like this comes along, giving diners the complete package. Only complaint I had was that they were out of the bottle of wine I ordered off the wine list. However, an alternative was suggested for the same price-giving me the notion the bartender was very accommodating. Altogether, the food was amazing, service was exceptional and the ambiance was fancy but still somewhat casual and not pretentious. I will come back often!!

Went there tonight for restaurant week. I was skeptical about Brioso because of the reviews here, but the restaurant menu was too good to pass up. I am only giving Brioso 2 stars...1 star for the delicious appetizers and 1 star for the manager going around to each table to check on the customers. (Also, the guy was really nice on the phone when I called to make the reservation) Besides that, I am not impressed by the restaurant. There were 4 of us, we waited probably 10 mins before our waitress knowledge us, even though she walked by our table twice. I understand it was a busy night and I would tolerate the slow service, but I wish our waitress would have been more attentive. I asked for lemon for the water for our table and she brought us 3 wedges of lemon, so I asked for extra lemons and she brought back one wedge. The table next to us who got there probably 15 mins after us got their appetizers first. Also, the waitress never asked us how our food was or refilled our water, we finally have to wave her down to get more water because the food was so salty. Since there were 4 of us, we were able to try all the appetizers on the menu (calamari, fried cauliflower and salad). All the appetizers were very good and we had high hopes for the main entree. 3 people ordered the salmon and I got the steak. Unfortunately, all our entrees were super salty. The manager stopped by our table after we had our first bite of our main entree, and I just said everything was ok because I thought maybe the food would taste better/ less salty after a couple bites. Unfortunately, my steak was over seasoned and so were the salmons. I think I need to stop ordering steak because this is the second time in a row that I ordered steak and it's too salty to the point that I have to bring the steak home to scrape off the salt from the surface (the last time was at a different restaurant). On the plus side, the mashed potatoes and veggies were good. Also, the saltiness of the salmon is tolerable if you eat it with the risotto because the risotto is under seasoned. Out of the 3 salmons we got, one dish is less salty than the other. Oh the chocolate dome dessert was pretty good, I wouldn't expect anything less from Butterwood. I was going to say something to the manager about our food before we left but he was busy with other customers. Even though the restaurant is close to my house and the appetizers were good, we probably won't go back due to the over seasoning of the food and subpar service.

Slightly overpriced but good food, great service, and very beautiful interior. I went there for brunch and got an omelette. It was pretty basic but very tasty. I wish the menu had been a bit more interesting but what they do offer they do well.

I was contacted by the manager who suggested we give his restaurant another try. Good news is that they pay attention to the reviews.

My husband and I came here on a whim last Thursday. To start, we were surprised that we found ourselves very frustrated with the parking situation. You pull in and there's a parking garage, but all the spots had numbers on them and look reserved for the tenants/hotel guests. OK. So you pull around to a very tiny parking lot that was completely full on a random Thursday night in February. So where do you park? We pulled into the street, no street parking on this section of Main or the side street next to the building. So, back into the full lot. Luckily my husband has a truck, so we partially parked on a snow bank. I know the parking lot isn't the fault of the restaurant, but this wasn't a good start. I actually logged into their website while we were circling around to see if they had valet or some parking info, they didn't and may want to add parking info to their site in the future. My first impression is that is was a very nicely decorated restaurant. We were greeted by a kind host who promptly took us to our table. The tables, by the way, are laid out in that you don't feel like you're on top of everyone, even at a 2 person table. That's rare nowadays when restaurants are trying to squeeze every table they can into a space. So props to them on that. The first server to arrive at our table was very nice, but clearly new. They didn't know all of the beers that were available on tap, and had a difficult time talking about the specials. But, again, they were clearly new and deserve some time to hone their skills. What happened next, however, was annoying. After the server took our drink order another server promptly pulled our server to the side and told them that we were HIS table. So then we were stuck with this other server, who was nice but completely high strung and a little unprofessional (starting with the fact that he pulled our original server off to the side and reprimanded them right in front of us). Throughout the night he talked a mile a minute and would drop things on our table without a word or even breaking his pace. (for example, when he brought the check he literally jogged past our table and set it down, while still jogging, without a word). He seemed rushed and like he had too many tables to handle in a restaurant that wasn't even too busy (which is funny considering he had to insist that our table was his). He also said "Are you ladies ready to order?" to MY HUSBAND and I (my husband has a beard and in no way could be confused for a woman)- this didn't make me mad at all but this just shows this server's lack of focus on customer service. Anyway, enough about the service. That's not the only reason I'm giving this 2 stars. The food is OK, it's not terrible, but it's definitely not "OMG I have to go back and eat here soon". We both got soup, it was a Mexican soup with a side of bread, but the name of it escapes me. I wanted to look up the exact name on their website but it seems to be down at the moment- not good. The soup was the best part, for sure. For dinner my husband had tacos and I had the quesadillas. Both tasted very good, but there was really nothing special about either of them, nothing to write home about and certainly nothing to justify the prices. In all, had I rated this on the food alone I would probably give this place 3 stars, but my bizarre experiences with the service and the parking annoyances drops this down to 2 stars. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back. I'd much rather eat at Sweet & Savory in the Lafayette.

The restaurant is only accessible through the hotel itself, which is beautifully contemporary and chic. The restaurant is dark, with it's browns and blacks, in comparison to the primarily white hotel lobby. The staff is generally agreeable, however our waiter Aaron was so inviting and personable. He gave great suggestions based on personalities and palate preferences. I sipped on the "Bee's Knees" and the lavender honey syrup blended with the comb blossom brandy to create a warm but light blend, while the Moscato di asti gave the drink a highlight in the aftertaste. This coupled nicely with the short rib "rajas" that were braised in Malbec. The quality is duly noted upon presentation, with the colorful plate arranged to look like a bull in Mexican style. The meat was so soft that I needed only my fork, and with the first bite the meat melted in my mouth. The flavors are deep and rich; elevated by the chilled and crunchy sweet pepper slaw, custom designed for the dish. The chimichurri and poblano chili cream add spice that will mellow out as time passes. If the heat proves to be too much, dive into the chorizo con papas which could stand alone if need be. The potatoes were so soft, yet perfectly cubed, and the flavor of the Spanish sausage diffused quite nicely into the vegetable itself. All in all, a brilliant creation that does not disappoint. The main course was sizable, so much so that I was quite full, however dessert is what Butterwood is known for. Another suggestion was given, and it proved decadent. The pistachio creme brulee made me close my eyes in a moment of food ecstasy. Pistachios by definition are gritty and earthy, but in this dessert they are so finely ground that the "pistachio butter"and dairy work to form a rich and thick sweet cream. I thoroughly enjoyed this dessert, however, I have two criticisms. First, the creme brulee should not have been presented in a tin container, for this is a cop out to save the dish boy a little work. Second, the caramelized sugar coating did not produce a "crunch" with a tap of the spoon. This layer is so characteristic of creme brulee, and did not meet the mark on my dining experience. However, it is quite possible that the cream itself distracted my taste buds so well that I didn't miss the caramel layer all that much.

We went to Brioso last night with no reservation and were lucky to get a table! Was very busy so for future reference call ahead. The restaurant is nicely decorated and does not feel like a typical hotel restaurant at all. A very nice surprise! To start with our martinis were well made and promptly served. Dinners come with fresh chips and salsa which were delicious. The menu has a lot of unique choices compared to most places in WNY. Our server Sherry did a great job explaining the menu and making recommendations. We chose the half rack of lamb and the meatloaf special, both DELICIOUS!!! The lamb was cooked just right and the sides were a nice compliment. The meatloaf was not ordinary, it was made with steak and chorizo so it had amazing flavor! We switched to wine for dinner and our server again made great recommendations pairing our wine with our food. The Butterwood dessert menu had a lot of great choices. Again we went with our server recommendation and got the chipotle chocolate pyramid and the pecan pie which were a perfect end to a great meal! I have to say overall this is a great place! Our server was wonderful. In spite of her obviously being very busy she was very attentive when at our table and made sure we enjoyed every aspect of our meal. Instead of just presenting our check, she also took the time to bid us farewell, thank us for coming, and let us know that the patio will be opening soon! We will definitely be back again.

Love this place! There isn't much Latin food in Buffalo & it is amazing ! I am so glad they established this restaurant. It is a great change from the usual menus we find in western New York. I also might add the hotel connected looks new and wonderful. We definitely will be going back to Brioso. I recommended the empanadas and short ribs!

We went to Brioso last night. It was pretty crowded and a good vibe. The host and waiters seemed a bit overwhelmed and confused. Our waiter was very nice but hurried. He went through the specials so fast we couldn't understand him and would stop over to ask us how we're doing but wouldn't wait to hear the answer before moving on. No big deal, but he forgot to put in our drink order and we had to ask for the bread basket (after our apps) which he forgot. The celebrated soup was very thick like a stew. Very tasty and the Empanada Verde was very good. I'd try both again. The short ribs rajas were very fatty as many short ribs are but quite tasty. The chiles rellenos were only ok. Tons of onions which overpowered the taste. Sounded better on the menu. When we come back we'll do a few more apps and drinks. Hopefully they'll have the staff better organized.

I have gone to brioso 4 times now. It is well furnished, and not always so full. We went on a Sunday night and the bar was full but there were 6 tables filled out of 12 or so! The waiter was nice, but slightly unintelligible. I come back mainly for their quesadillas. Those are by far the BEST QUESADILLAS IN THE WORLD! They are very filling and one of the cheapest things on the menu at $13... With two plates, you can definitely fill 3 people!!! The Santa Fe pasta was delicious, but not worth $27! The pulled chicken tacos were also delicious, but there were $10 for two medium size tacos... At the beginning, we were treated with some bakery bread and butters which showed that the food would be awesome. Last time I went, the waiter asked if we wanted chips and salsa before we got the menu so we agreed, not knowing that it was $12!! But on the general it is A very nice place and is worth coming back because of the amazing quesadillas! The deserts are pricey, but filling and delicious. I highly recommend Red Velvet cupcakes there they are extraordinary. This place lost a star because they are very pricey think 100 for 4 people... If only we had just ordered 3 quesadilla plates and dessert we would've been more satisfied as it would be a dinner for 4 under 50!!

Not Impressed The food was OK, not a wide selection for lunch. The menu has alot of unique ingredients without descriptions, we had many questions. The staff was not overly friendly/accomodating. The manager was talking on the phone while walking past our table.

If your looking for a cheep night out this might not be the place. If your looking for a unique, fun, quality meal that you can build memories from, this might be it. Not a lot of places like this in WNY so Brioso brings an autentic cultural experiance to its diners. Cherie(Sharie?) our server acted like she was the owner, answering all our questions with pride and positive energy that made our meal a delight. She is quite a find. Food was wonderfully prepared and well presented. I suppose it's easier to find parking if you are a local as some of the other reviews suggested but if you live in WNY you owe it to yourself to try Brioso. Cant wait to go back to try more of the unique entrees and wonderful desserts. Keep up the great job.
